It’s Easy to Support Our Community Work
Make a Difference by Making a Donation or by Becoming a Volunteer
Our not-for-profit charity organization operates on government grants, fundraising, and donations. Donations account for a large portion of the Seaside Centre’s revenue and we are truly appreciative of our donors’ support. Without them, we would not be able to provide the programs and services that help enhance the quality of life in our community.
DONATE BY MAIL
Send your donation via mail by sending a cheque to: Seaside Centre, 1066 Eastern Shore Rd., Brooklyn, N.S., B0J 1H0
DONATE BY E-TRANSFER
Please e-Transfer your donation to finance@seasidecentre.ca. To receive a tax receipt for $25 or more, please include your email address in your e-transfer notes field.
DONATE IN PERSON
Drop off your donation at any one of the Seaside Centre’s events or email info@seasidecentre.ca to arrange a meeting with a board member.
DONATE BOTTLE OR CAN REFUNDS
Donate the refunds from your bottle or can returns to the Seaside Centre through Queens Enviro-Depot located at 3965 Hwy 3, Brooklyn, NS, B0J 1H0. The Depot is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ask the Depot to donate your refund, and they will hold it for pickup by a Seaside Centre representative.
Become a Seaside Centre Volunteer
Seaside Centre volunteers organize and run our events, set up and take down room setups, welcome and provide direction to visitors, tend bar, help maintain the facility, serve on the Board and Committees, and the list goes on. Simply put, without volunteers the Seaside Centre would not exist.
What’s in it for me?
The benefits of volunteering are almost endless. Just ask someone who does it. You’ll be amazed at the ways a person can grow by donating just a few hours a month. Lots of people say that their volunteer work has changed them in ways they never expected. Volunteering may not be the first thing people think of when they are feeling down or lonely, but studies show that it can have great benefits for a person’s mental health. A 2017 Conference Board of Canada report stated that volunteering can improve the life satisfaction of volunteers and improve their mental health.
From making new friends to learning new skills, volunteering can expand your hearts, minds and souls at any age.
Volunteer Opportunities
We are always looking for people to join our team of wonderful volunteers. Do you want to volunteer to join the board, an event committee, or volunteer at one of our many charitable programs or fundraisers? Here are some current opportunities.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board oversees the operation of the Centre. It sets budgets and manages the finances, plans which events are to be organized, and makes decisions on what improvements need to be made.
COMMUNICATIONS VOLUNTEERS
Communications volunteers update our Facebook page, our website, create posters, and promote upcoming Seaside Centre events, activities and opportunities.
BUILDING MAINTENANCE TEAM
Building Maintenance Team volunteers manage the upkeep of the facility, including hiring plumbing or electrical professionals as needed, arranging lawn care, snow removal, conducting safety inspections, and looking after any other necessary improvements.
EVENTS VOLUNTEERS
We need volunteers to plan, work on, and staff events throughout the year. This is a great opportunity for anyone who likes to plan parties and socialize within the community. If you’re not interested in organizing or planning, we also need volunteers at events for food preparation, setup, bar tending, and decorating, to mention a few.
